The Sports Equinox is upon us - a special night where the biggest leagues in American sports collide in a perfect storm of pure chaos. This year's lineup offers everything a fan could dream of: the 120th World Series showdown between the favorited Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees, Monday Night Football featuring a classic battle as the New York Giants visit the Pittsburgh Steelers, and exciting NBA matchups with potential playoff showdowns in the Celtics-Bucks and Lakers-Suns matchups. The NHL adds to the suspense as the Winnipeg Jets, undefeated so far, aim to challenge the league’s best season-starting win streak against the Toronto Maple Leafs, while Major League Soccer’s playoff action kicks off with the Seattle Sounders taking on the Houston Dynamo.

With championship implications, historic rivalries, and playoff stakes, this year's Sports Equinox promises unforgettable moments for every fan. With that being said, allow me to show you which games you should tune into on this Sports Equinox Monday!

MLB

The 120th World Series

Los Angeles Dodgers at New York Yankees

FOX - 8:08 EDT

Our first and possibly most obvious matchup is the World Series. The Dodgers look to take a 3-0 series lead while traveling to the Bronx. For the Yankees, this game is essentially "win-or-go-home" as no one has come back from down 3-0 in the World Series. The Yankees desperately need their MVP, Aaron Judge, to lock in and start playing like the MVP he is. For Los Angeles, they need to change nothing. Shohei Ohtani is in the lineup tonight after that scare late in game 2 and besides that, the Dodgers look to continue their dominance. There really isn't much else in this series worth noting anymore... Tommy Edman is staying hot, Freddie Freeman looks like he has found his swing again after that electric walk-off grand slam in game 1, and the Dodgers' slim pitching staff is showing up and out for the squad. If the Yankees want to win this series, Aaron Judge is their X-Factor - he needs to lock in and get his postseason yips out of the way. Dodgers in 4.

NFL

Monday Night Football

New York Giants (2-5) at Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2)

ESPN - 8:15 EDT

I don't know why the NFL keeps putting the Steelers in primetime slots but I am not complaining too much. I wish Justin Fields was still their QB, but Russell Wilson had a serviceable start to his 2024 campaign... even if George Pickens bailed him out several times. The Giants are being the Giants again - stuck in limbo, not sure where to go from here. Nabers is back and healthy though, so look for the rookie playmaker to make some plays that will help make this game competitive. Steelers by 10.

NBA

Potential Eastern Conference Playoff Matchup

Milwaukee Bucks (1-2) at Boston Celtics (3-0)

Ahhhhh... the NBA season is finally back and I haven't really had anything to say about it so far; however, the Celtics look like the Celtics of last season and they're looking to keep their perfect season alive against their conference rival, the Milwaukee Bucks. It looks like the Bucks will have Giannis and Lillard in the lineup tonight against the Celtics, while the C's are still missing Porzingis. Shouldn't be too much of a problem for Boston though... this squad is a well-oiled machine looking to be the first repeat champion since the 2017-2018 Warriors. Oh... and Jayson Tatum is coming for that MVP... This matchup should be an exciting one to watch. Gimme Boston by 8.

Potential Western Conference Playoff Matchup

Los Angeles Lakers (3-0) at Phoenix Suns (2-1)

NBA TV - 10:00 EDT (lol)

LeBron James of the Lakers posts up Bradley Beal of the Phoenix Suns

If you are still awake by the start of this game, then tune into this exciting matchup between LeBron and KD. In their first matchup of the season, Anthony Davis showed why he is still a top 3 big man in the league - posting a 35-point, 8-rebound line in a 123-116 Laker win. JJ Redick is also an intriguing storyline in this one, the rookie coach looks like he knows what he is doing with this squad and LeBron still looks like LeBron. If the Lakers can continue this hot streak throughout the season and potentially add someone to help bolster that offense, look out... this Laker team might be legit. For the Suns, this is it for them... it's win now or have to restart. They still have their Big 3 in Durant, Booker, and Beal but if they can't figure out a winning formula, look for the Suns to blow this team up. This matchup should give you an indication of what's to follow. Lakers by 6.

NHL

The Jets Look to Challenge NHL's Longest Win Streak to Start a Season

Toronto Maple Leafs (4-4-1) at Winnipeg Jets (8-0-0)

ESPN+ - 7:30 EDT

I would be a liar if I told you I knew everything about the NHL. I am a Blues fan, I know who is on our team and how the game works. Besides, that I am a complete casual; however, I do know that the Jets are nearing uncharted levels of greatness to start their season out and they have a chance to get 1 win closer to matching the all-time win streak to start the season in the history of the NHL. If you even like the idea of hockey and want to watch good hockey at that, then this game is for you. Plus... hockey is always a fun watch. Turn it on in the background during the World Series or MNF and enjoy!

MLS

Opening Round of the MLS Playoffs

Seattle Sounders at Houston Dynamo

FS1 - 8:50 EDT

(There are literally zero good pictures for them lol)

Yea... I got nothing here. MLS playoff and they had to be included cause of the Sports Equinox... if you like American Soccer, then you probably don't read this blog anyway. Go Texas teams!
