It's finally here! The NFL season is finally only a few days away after what has felt like an eternity since the Chiefs' dramatic 4th quarter Super Bowl LVIII comeback. This 2024-25 NFL season is bound to have great parity, new up-and-coming stars, expected/unexpected performances, and of course... great fantasy upsets. Today I will talk solely about Week 1 of the 2024-25 NFL season, what to expect, game outcomes, and bets that are sure to hit. Let's get into it!

Thursday, September 5th

Baltimore Ravens @ Kansas City Chiefs

7:20 PM (all times CDT) - NBC/Peacock (great... another streaming platform)

Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO

Preview:

The Chiefs are coming off their 2nd straight Super Bowl victory, looking to become the 1st 3-peat in NFL history. Their first task in their title defense season: defeat the reigning MVP, Lamar Jackson, and the reloaded Baltimore Ravens that feature a newly acquired, Derrick Henry. This Ravens offense will be a tough stop every time out on the field, and of course, don't sleep on their defense. A defense that ranked top 5 in almost every meaningful defensive statistic a year ago, the Ravens are looking to pick up where they left off. Baltimore did end up losing their DC to the Seahawks this offseason and their top DAs to other jobs as well, but never underestimate John Harbaugh's ability to develop and train new leadership and talent no matter the circumstance. While I talked a lot about what Baltimore brings to the table, it would be unfair for me to not talk about Kansas City briefly. The Chiefs were able to make their biggest move of the offseason in resigning of DL, Chris Jones. Jones is the cornerstone of that KC defense and having him back is a huge win for the veteran Kansas City team. Not only were they able to keep a vital part of their success, they somehow had star receiver, Xavier Worthy from Texas, fall into their laps during the 2024 NFL Draft. KC's biggest need entering that draft was a receiver and they got their guy. Look for Worthy to have Puka Nacua rookie numbers this season. Opening Night should be a great watch!

Picks to Click (all lines via ESPN Bet):

Total Points: OVER 46.5: -105

Xavier Worthy: OVER 45 rec. yds: -130

Lamar Jackson: OVER 50 rush yds: -105

Jalen Hurts and Jordan Love embrace after Packers-Eagles matchup

Green Bay Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles

7:15 PM - Peacock (sigh)

Corinthians Arena, São Paulo, Brazil

Preview:

This one won't be as long as the last one, although there are still a lot of good stories to watch. This game will be taking place in Brazil, a part of the NFL's globalization of American Football. The Packers, led by rising star, Jordan Love, are the youngest team in the NFL and are here to prove that youth can reap good rewards. After almost shocking the football world twice last postseason, the Packers look to grow on their 2nd half campaign in 2023-24. Watch out for Jordan Love to take the league by storm and prove why he is worth every penny of that four-year, $220 million extension. The Eagles also have a lot to look forward to with their newest signing, Saquon Barkley. Barkley easily makes the Eagles one of the most intimidating offenses in the NFL, paired with the WR duo of Brown and Smith and that offensive line, Jalen Hurts should have no problem being an MVP candidate yet again. Look out for another shootout between the Packers and an NFC East team.

I was going to do all of them, but...

  1. I do not know football as well

  2. It would take a LONG time and I have little time sadly
