Caleb Williams, you are a Chicago Bear. Now, let's predict the rest of this year's highly touted top ten.
By Ryan Galloway | April 12, 2024
The dust has settled after free agency marked the beginning of the 2024 NFL season, and now we are looking ahead to the draft later this month. Many teams made some exciting moves to bolster their rosters, several of which eagerly await the draft to round off their new acquisitions and let the world see what their rosters will look like come August. As with many years, we know who is going first overall. I think. It's the Chicago Bears with the pick so you never know. We're excited and you're excited so today we're going to take a look at the top ten picks of the 2024 NFL Draft and predict who goes where based upon logic and the reason of Ryan Galloway.
Pick 1 - Chicago Bears
Caleb Williams - QB
Chicago traded Justin Fields, their incumbent franchise quarterback hopeful, to Pittsburgh. They also added a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball including RB D'Andre Swift and WR Keenan Allen. They're taking Caleb Williams and praying that he is finally the one.
Pick 2 - Washington Commanders
Drake Maye - QB
This is another relatively easy choice here, Washington needs to take a quarterback after shipping Sam Howell to Seattle. Maye is arguably the second-best quarterback in this draft, and after reports that things have soured between Jayden Daniels and the Commanders, don't be surprised to see Washington take another swing at a North Carolina man.
Pick 3 - New England Patriots
Jayden Daniels - QB
The Patriots are not trading out of the third pick. They are going to take another quarterback. Despite rumors of JJ McCarthy being their guy, I don't see them passing up on Jayden Daniels here. Daniels reportedly wants to be in New England, and the Patriots front office is terrified of missing out on their franchise guy. They have an above-average chance of finding him in the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner, the hope for Patriots fans is that they can succeed in surrounding him with adequate talent, unlike his predecessor Mac Jones.
Pick 4 - Arizona Cardinals
Marvin Harrison Jr. - WR
The Cardinals are sticking with Kyler Murray under center, and it is hard to blame him. The Oklahoma man has been phenomenal when healthy. The Cardinals don't need to overthink things here. They are in desperate need of talent at the wide receiver position and Harrison is a bonafide star.
Pick 5 – Los Angeles Chargers
Malik Nabers – WR
The second-best wide receiver in this class goes to the Chargers with the first pick of the Harbaugh era. They have their guy in QB Justin Herbert, but as it stands today, he will be throwing the ball to Quentin Johnston and (checks notes) Joshua Palmer. They’ll be hoping Nabers can jump in and make an impact right away, as well as praying for some progression from last year’s first-rounder Quentin Johnston.
Pick 6 – New York Giants
JJ McCarthy – QB
Along with the rest of the league, the Giants are very high on National Champion McCarthy, if he falls this far, don’t be surprised to see them take a chance on him. However, if their guy isn’t there at 6, they will likely trade down and reassess their draft plans.
Pick 7 – Tennessee Titans
Joe Alt – OT
This one is a slam dunk. The Titans have a massive hole at left tackle, and this further bolsters their new-look offense under new head coach Brian Callahan, which also features RB Tony Pollard and WR Calvin Ridley. They’re hoping Will Levis is their guy at quarterback, now it’s time to protect him.
Pick 8 – Atlanta Falcons
Dallas Turner – EDGE
The Falcons have addressed their needs on offense, don’t be surprised to see them look to defense here. Turner is a safe pick and an athletic freak. They will hope to see him become a much-needed cornerstone of the defensive rush, a large need for the team.
Pick 9 – Chicago Bears
Rome Odunze – WR
With Turner going the pick before, Chicago will likely look to add to the talent in their wide receiver room to pair with Caleb Williams. Yes, they traded for Keenan Allen and already have DJ Moore, but don’t be surprised to see them seek to infuse some youth into their WR rotation. Odunze is a good fit here, and a young receiver that can grow with Williams and learn from the experienced receiver ahead of him.
Pick 10 – New York Jets
Brock Bowers – TE
I could see the Jets moving down here. But as it stands, they’re at ten. The Jets have one mission in this draft: Get Rodgers weapons and protection. Depending on who is available, they’ll likely opt for the former. Bowers is a phenom and the best TE talent we’ve seen come out of college in a long time. A gifted pass catcher and route runner, he is no slouch blocking either. This pick addresses one and a half of their needs.
